Well, I suppose there’s a first time for everything, and for me … it’s blogging. Social networking is a new communications tool for us here at the church. We have our Facebook account, we’re adding Twitter accounts weekly, and now Wordpress blogging. As I encourage our leaders to begin using our social networking tools, I quickly realized I need to help lead the way. As a Communications Director, I’m not sure I have much to say that would be of added value to someone, but you have to start somewhere.

I frequently receive phone calls and emails from people at other churches asking what we’re doing in communications at FPCB. The theme of my blogs will be centered on supporting other, smaller churches who may be struggling in communications. I certainly understand that I don’t have all the answers, or even pretend to. But after over 12 years in communications and marketing (much of it spent working in churches), I’ve learned a few things along the way… mostly from my mistakes. My hope is that this blog will be a source of encouragement, information, and inspiration to others in church communications. Your feedback, whether we agree or not, is always welcome.
